Kaisik Wong “Cobra” Art To Wear ensemble includes: a long black dress with lame trimmings and a back zipper closure, a mesh net layer with some gold threading and a hook fastening, and lastly, the striped metallic gold and black apron that has button closures along the front and the back in which is meant to sit on top of the head as pictured. Diagonal striped collar is backed in solid red fabric. Rare and striking signature piece from one of San Francisco’s most theatrical designers. Excellent vintage condition.

Kaisik Wong, a progressive clothing artist born in San Francisco, emerged on the creative scene in the early 1970s and was active until his death in 1990. His work, most of which was entirely handmade without any use of patterns, was a direct reflection of a time when folk art and DIY craft were at the forefront of grassroots artistic practices.
